What is VoIP?

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) refers to a way to carry phone calls over an IP data network, whether on the Internet or your own internal network.

What is SIP?

SIP is an acronym for "Session Initiation Protocol", a set of rules that dictate how devices communicate. Basically, SIP supports any form of real-time communication regardless of whether the content is voice, video, instant messaging, or collaboration applications. It is a form of Voice over IP and allows businesses to take advantage of more robust features than one would find in a traditional PBX phone system.

Can I keep my current phone number?

Although circumstances do arise, you can most always keep your current phone number despite which carrier service you are using.

Is your phone system costing or making you money?

Sentenia Systems can help you analyze all of your telecom needs and make sure your phone system is cost effective for you.

Do I need to cancel my current phone service provider?

No, you can keep the phone provider that you currently have.

How are toll-free numbers handled?

Toll free numbers are linked to the main local number of your phone system.  When your customer calls your toll free number, it will ring your local number.  All toll-free numbers are at no charge to the caller.

How are multiple locations and remote employees supported?

Multiple locations can be supported with IP systems and remote employees can stay connected via Unified Communicator – softphones – or teleworkers phones.

Can a company with multiple locations have a single phone number?

With all of the advances in technology, yes you can. All calls ring into one central location. From there, they are distributed to any office located where the phone calls ring to and are received, across the country or the world.

Can I have multiple extensions?

Yes, you can have multiple extensions.  We can set up your new phone system so that you can have an extension in your office, home or even vacation home.

Will I need a new phone circuit? 

Whether you need a new circuit, will depend on your current configuration of circuits and how your new system is designed.

Do I need to change my internet provider? 

No, you do not need to change you internet provider. If for any reason your service needed to be changed, we will work with them to assure a seamless transition.

What are the bandwidth requirements?

Bandwidth requirements vary based on the size of your company and how we design your new system.  Sentenia Systems will perform a complete survey of your current network capabilities to ensure that your new solution will work efficiently.  It if does not, Sentenia will make recommendations that may need to be implemented prior to installation.

Is there training provided? 

When a new system is purchased, training is included in your quote for employees who will be using the system, as well as for administrators who may be making changes to the system.  Should you need additional training once your system is in and running, you can contact our training department who will be happy to schedule a time for a trainer to come to your site or hold a training webinar. 

Are system upgrades automatic? 

If you purchased our TechMax program at the time of your system purchase, Sentenia Systems will install any new releases or patches that are provided by the manufacturer twice a year. This way your system will never have out-dated software

Can I integrate my telecom system with my computers?

Most phone systems today work more like computer systems and unified communications applications will integrate with your PC and network to make using your new phone system much easier.

Do I need to run new wiring?

A site survey will determine if the existing wiring needs to be updated or expanded.

What type of cabling do I need?

It can be very frustrating to choose from the many cable types available. Do I use Category 3, 5e, 6, plenum, riser, shielded, coaxial, etc…? What type of cabling is least expensive with my Digital/Analog/VOIP phone system? We have an RCDD on staff that can answer all of these questions and make recommendations based on your requirements and equipment. We are interested in providing the best solution for you and your network.

What's the best way to get the lowest price on my cable project?

If you are bidding your project out, you want to obtain accurate and similar quotes. To do this you have to make sure all of the contractors are pricing the same scope of work. It's important that all of the bidders have the same floor plan, cable specifications, total cable location numbers, etc. A site survey will be extremely important in deciding the details and challenges of the job. Having separate meetings with each of the contractors individually might seem like the best idea but keep in mind that a pre-bid meeting attended by all contractors will ensure all questions and answers will be known and heard by all parties.

What type of warranty do you include with a cable installation?

The warranty period for any cabling job varies from 5 years to 25 years, depending on the manufacturer. Regardless, Sentenia Systems will always stand by our work.

How do I know if Sentenia Systems is the right data cabling company?
