The convergence of voice and data has opened even more opportunities for our company. We are experiencing steady growth and transformation. We are looking for Field Technicians to support our customer base. The primary function of this technician is to provide superior customer support, perform system installations, repairs, and changes. The majority of our clients have Mitel, Vertical, ESI, Zultys and Comdial systems.
Responsibilities will include:
- Installation: install, program, and train customer on telephones and telephone systems; install, program, and train customer on voicemail systems; install and troubleshoot paging systems; install racks and shelves; extend existing or install new CAT 3, CAT 5, CAT 6, coax and fiber cables
- Assist in design and implementation of new systems
- Conduct site surveys
- Label jacks and patch panels
- Test jacks and patch panels
- On-site and/or remote service: identify, troubleshoot and resolve customer issues; add phone sets; move services; remove services; program options; profile systems
- Maintain stock and work areas: stock van with supplies as identified by manager; anticipate additional stock needed from review of work orders; notify the Purchasing Department if any items that need to be ordered; keep the stock room and technician areas clean and organized
- Record work and time: accurately track work performed, time spent, and materials used at each job; submit work orders and time sheets in a timely manner as identified by manager; obtain customer signature on work orders upon daily completion
- Travel: daily travel to customer sites may be required; overnight travel up to 50% of the year may be required
- Maintain a flexible schedule: work outside of standard business hours including nights, early morning, and weekends may be required on occasion
- Communication: communicate with manager daily regarding progress of jobs, problems encountered, concerns, and estimated completion times; communicate additional materials needed on the job to the Purchasing Manager
- Maintain vehicle: report service and maintenance needs to manager; keep vehicles clean inside and out (including frequent car washes); report any damage to vehicle immediately to manager
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience in the telecommunications industry, preferably in field service
- Ability to meet established performance goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to track your efforts using internal processes and tools
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Previous experience with Mitel phone systems is desired, candidates with 3300 certification will be given priority consideration.
