Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot communications cable systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Cable installation: install CAT 3, CAT 5, CAT 6, coax, and fiber cables according to blue prints or work orders; terminate cables per code; test jacks and patch panels using a tester; certify cables using a certifier; label jacks and patch panels using a label maker
- Install and troubleshoot paging systems
- Install racks and shelves
- Assist with the installation of telephone systems
- Service customer accounts: add phones, move phones, add phone lines, troubleshoot problems
Requirements
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience with DSL and T1 technology is required
- Ability and willingness to travel overnight as required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
